NOONDAY GUN (4) returns from a 172-day lay-off. Opened the last prep with a minor placing in a 1m4 1/2f flat race at Murray Bridge, beaten a neck. Sure to make his presence felt. POINT NEPEAN (1) did fairly well when he finished second in a hurdle at Ballarat two runs back. Less effective last time when 13 lengths away in 15th over 1m6f on the flat at Flemington. Sure to be thereabouts. SERENADE THE STARS (3) has missed the placings in two flat appearances this time in work. Finished seventh when fresh from a lay-off over 1m2f then was beaten 8 lengths at Swan Hill over 1m4f last time. Capable of taking this out.
